More information: The Luca’s House family homestead , located almost at the top of Monte Amiata, Maremma’s highest peak, is an ancient peasant structure dating back to the 19th century, completely built in stone and renovated leaving its architectural elements intact, integrating mural art. The result is a small hamlet with a natural calling for country accommodations that was developed over the years that has become a solida farm that sleeps six and two flats. Ideal for a brief holiday as well as for a lengthier stay.
The farmhouse is completely immersed in nature, surrounded by the farm’s fields that are biologically cultivated and pine and chestnut woods that are so characteristic of the area. Two Sardinian- Amiato donkeys also live here: but it is not unusual to see deer that cross the fields at sunset along with the more timid porcupines, badgers, wild boar or a stealthy fox. Since the area is completely uncontaminated, thanks to the choice of an environment-friendly agriculture, every species of bird can also be seen in the trees and hawks buzzards fly over head as well. Fireflies come out in summer and small clouds of butterflies in spring. Ideal for birdwatchers.

The Luca’s House holiday farm works with the harvest and transformation of medicinal and aromatic plants, walnuts, chestnuts, extra virgin olive oil and a small production of honey. We also sell an excellent rosso di Montalcino red wine that is produced by nearby vineyards. The oil is produced by quality olives, hand- picked from Olivastra di Seggiano a native plant that is highly resistant to the cold weather and with such characteristics that were prized by Benedictine monks as far back as the 13th century (in which the oil was already acknowledged as a quality product). The pressing takes place in a small but efficient local oil mill that adopts techniques that are suitable to the maintenance of the oil’s hygienic and organoleptic elements, characterized by a colour and flavor that are intense and delicate at the same time. Its colour is an intense green, its aroma is clearly fruity and olive, its taste is spicy and slightly bitter.
The production of medicinal plants is based on the cultivation of several kinds of well acclimatized plants that grow spontaneously on Monte Amiata such as chamomile, hissopus, Melissa, sage, rosemary, thyme, peppermint and lavender.
We also pick other medicinal plants that grow abundantly in the area: achillea, St John’s wart, water mint, rose hips, scots pine and sambuco.
There are also some beehives that are beneficial to agricultural activity as well as for …gourmands. We produce a dark, chestnut honey and a lighter, dense honey made from many flowers, depending upon the season.
