Pitigliano is situated on an extensive plane of tuff bordered by the Lente and Meleta streams. It is a picturesque village that has made itself known and loved for its artistic heritage to many international tourists, making it a main international tourist destination. It was capable of keeping its spirit and caring for its monuments. The streets of the town are filled with things to see like the Cathedral dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, dating back to the Middle Ages and the Church of San Francesco. The oldest one is dedicated to the Blessed Mother, also known as the Church of San Rocca. There is a sanctuary, il Santuario della Madonna delle Grazie, located on the outskirts of town. While strolling through the charming buildings in the old town center, we suggest you make a stop at the Monument dedicated to the Ursinea offspring, an expression of the grandeur of the Orsini family, the Synagogue (proof of the Jewish people that once lived here) and the Palazzo and Parco Orsini with its many statues and fountains. Aside from its characteristic beauty and importance from an artistic-cultural point of view, Pitigliano is also very enticing for the its folklore and traditional events such as the Torciata di San Giuseppe (a bonfire event that takes place the night of the Spring equinox that should not be missed!) and other fine food and dining festivals.
